OLDHAM RL Club coach Tony Benson can’t wait for tomorrow’s clash against St Helens at Whitebank.
The Super League outfit got pulses racing this week when they confirmed the likes of Ade Gardner, Josh Perry, Chris Flannery and Shaun Magennis would feature in the pre-season friendly (8pm kick-off).
Benson is particularly excited at the prospect of watching his men pit their wits against Perry and Flannery, and hopes the Roughyeds fans are equally enthused.
He said: “I am really looking forward to tomorrow’s game, especially when I look at the calibre of the opposition and the experience on display.
“Josh Perry and Chris Flannery have played in a number of State of Origin fixtures, which is huge.
“The fact they are going to select Ade Gardner is a bonus, too, because he is an England international.
“It is all about testing yourself against the best. We appreciate what St Helens are doing.
“It is not just a big chance for the coaching staff and players, but also the fans. I hope they come out and support what is happening at Whitebank tomorrow, especially with Saints bringing quite a few followers.”
Tickets cost £10 for adults, with £8 concessions and £2 for under-16s. There is also the usual £2 transfer into seats on a first come, first served basis.
