Luke Stenchion: green light to resume training.
OLDHAM finally got some good news on the injury front today when Luke Stenchion was cleared to start training after two months out with a broken thumb.
A specialist gave him the good-news.
“I was sweating a bit because I had been warned beforehand that an operation couldn’t be ruled out,” said the former Batley and Dewsbury prop, who was a tower of strength in the Roughyeds’ front row over the second half of last season.
Coach Tony Benson expects Stenchion to be back in contention within a month.
“He’ll need a bit of time to do some rehab and some training, but this is great news for Luke, for the squad and for the club,” he said.
Benson will finalise at training tonight the party to travel to Whitehaven tomorrow for the third-round Carnegie Challenge Cup tie against Cumbrian amateurs Egremont (8pm kick off).
