JAMIE DALLIMORE . . . kicking game will be vital tonight.
Oldham RL fans can be proud of their efforts.
“They are giving us fantastic support,” said club chairman Chris Hamilton ahead of tonight’s big Challenge Cup-tie at Super League side St Helens (kick-off 8pm).
Fans taking up the offer of free transport will fill five coaches. Hundreds more will travel independently.
“The fans have done us proud,” said Hamilton. “They have embraced the idea of watching us in action against one of the best teams in the world.
“You can’t beat times like this. Everything is so positive. The players face a massive task but they are really looking forward to it.
“They will be going up against a team full of international stars, many of whom are their heroes, but they are determined to put up a good show.”
Jamie Dallimore will be the player Oldham turn to in the kicking department, assisted by Danny Whitmore.
One man taking a particular interest in a kicking game to combat heavy rain and wind will be a former star of both clubs, Tommy Martyn.
“The pitch here is massive,” he said. “I’ve never played on one as huge as this. For anybody kicking the ball its dimensions take a lot of getting used to.”
