Hamilton: Fixtures switch right call
Date published: 02 May 2012
OLDHAM have rescheduled their two games against South Wales Scorpions so they have a match at Whitebank on the Saturday of Super League’s Magic Weekend.
They were due to travel to The Gnoll in Neath on Sunday, May 27, but Scorpions will now come to Oldham the day before (1pm kick-off) and Roughyeds will go to South Wales on Sunday, July 22 (3pm).
Magic Weekend will be staged at the Etihad Stadium, Manchester, over two days with three Super League games on Saturday, May 26, and four more on the following day.
“To be away in South Wales when all that rugby league was taking place on our doorstep would have been an opportunity missed,” said Oldham chairman Chris Hamilton.
“It means followers of the sport in Oldham — our own fans and others — can watch us at Whitebank and still get down the road to the Etihad to watch two of the three games there on the Saturday.
“We hope to generate a decent crowd and with that in mind we will soon be launching match-day initiatives aimed at, among others, the many Super League followers who will be in the area that weekend.”
