Skipper blow for Oldham
Date published: 03 May 2012
OLDHAM RL skipper Neil Roden could face several more weeks on the club’s casualty list.
A scan has revealed a four-inch tear in a thigh muscle he damaged at Spotland on Good Friday during the derby clash with Rochdale Hornets.
“The scan has also spotlighted damage to a knee which may be an old injury or a new one related to the torn thigh muscle,” said Oldham coach Tony Benson.
“We won’t know the full extent of the knee injury until the specialist does more investigating, but I think it’s fair to say Neil is facing a few more weeks on the sidelines.”
Roden will be one of several players on the treatment table at training tonight.
Others include Paul Noone, Miles Greenwood, Paul Smith and Lucas Onyango.
Full-back Greenwood will be keen to play against North Wales Crusaders at Whitebank on Sunday - he lies joint third in the list of Championship One try-scorers and will want to add to his tally against the side with the division’s worst defensive record.
