Oldham prop up injury-hit squad

Date published: 18 May 2012

OLDHAM RL have pulled in two prop-forwards on loan in a bid to ease their injury crisis.
David Tootill, from Hunslet, and Lewis Reed, from Keighley, will go straight into the squad to face Whitehaven at Whitebank on Sunday (3pm) as the Roughyeds aim to end a run of four league games without a win. More signings may follow

"We've got others in the pipeline, hopefully to join us soon," said chairman Chris Hamilton.

"They were both keen to come and help us out while we are in this predicament."

Reed, who has been on the fringe of Keighley's first team this season, gave an eye-catching performance for Cougars' reserves in a drawn game against Oldham at Whitebank last week.

Oldham-born Tootill (25) needs no introduction to local rugby league followers. He was reared in the local amateur game before signing for Leeds Rhinos as a teenager.

Danny Whitmore and Mark McCully are expected to be fit after flu – they trained normally last night – and Alex Thompson is also looking good for a return to action after his groin injury.

Paul Noone (ankle) and David Ellison (hamstring) will undergo late tests.

Jamie Dallimore faces a date in front of the RFL disciplinary committee next Tuesday.

He has been charged with a grade C offence - dangerous contact - in last Sunday's defeat at Doncaster.

Any ban would not kick in until next week so the goalkicking half-back will be available to play against the Cumbrians, who are two points and one place better off than the fifth-placed Roughyeds.

ROUGHYEDS got some good news on the injury front when winger Shaun Robinson's visit to the fracture clinic showed that his hand was not broken, as was originally feared. he will be out of action for two to three weeks.
