Club committed to promotion
Date published: 29 May 2012
OLDHAM RL chairman Chris Hamilton has assured fans the club is totally committed to getting out of Championship One.
On the back of coach Tony Benson’s plea to supporters to keep the faith, the chairman has said the club will do all in its power to move up in the world.
“We are still looking for new players,” he said. “We have leads which will be followed up in the next few days.”
Roughyeds made a great start to the season, winning each of their opening three games, including victories against two of the most fancied teams to go up, Workington and Barrow.
Since then they have been crippled by a huge injury list and have drawn one and lost five to arrive at the half-way stage just outside the promotion-qualifying top four.
Hamilton said: “Injuries haven’t helped, but if we start to feel sorry for ourselves we have no chance.
“We’ve got to roll up our sleeves and show a collective determination to work through whatever is thrown at us.
“If there is anybody at Roughyeds who doesn’t have the same motivation and determination they are at the wrong club.”
