Oldham target double swoop
Date published: 04 June 2012
OLDHAM RL chairman Chris Hamilton has revealed he hopes to tie up deals for two new signings by the middle of the week.
The duo’s switch to Whitebank has been delayed slightly by the Bank Holiday break, but they are likely to put pen to paper by Wednesday.
Both players were targeted some time ago and are not being brought in as a direct result of the recent injury crisis at Roughyeds.
Hamilton said: “As you know we are always looking around at players and this isn’t linked to the injury problems we have suffered.
“It is important for us to increase competition for places.”
To that end, Roughyeds also decided to give the current crop of players a few days off as they look to reignite a faltering campaign.
Hamilton added: “A lot of the lads have been carrying bumps and bruises and this was an opportunity to give them a bit of time off to recover.
“Hopefully they have all recharged their batteries as well and will come back into the fold fresh and raring to go.”
