Chairman salutes fans
Date published: 05 June 2012
OLDHAM RL Club chairman Chris Hamilton has paid a glowing tribute to fans for their patience during a disappointing, injury-hit start to the season.
Co-operative Championship One results have suffered after a string of key players sustained knocks which have kept them sidelined.
Despite seeing their side slip out of the coveted top four promotion places, the Whitebank faithful have stuck by Roughyeds.
Hamilton said: “The fans can always help and, in fairness to the vast majority of them, they have been so supportive and understanding of the situation.
“That has made a massive difference and it has not gone unnoticed — it is something of which we are very appreciative.
“As ever, they do have a big part to play in our season, but we are also aiming to give them something to shout about.”
At tonight’s training session, Roughyeds coach Tony Benson will be given a much clearer idea of who will be at his disposal for Sunday’s trip to North Wales Crusaders.
Meanwhile, Hamilton expects to complete two new signings either tomorrow or Thursday.
