Double blow for Ashton
Date published: 13 June 2012
BRUCE Johnson and Phil Joy, the front-row forwards who were at the heart of Oldham RL reserve team's 16-10 win over Halifax last week, have given coach Paul Ashton a dual prop problem ahead of tomorrow night’s under-23s game at York (8pm).
Both are out, Joy because of a muscle strain and Johnson due to work commitments.
“The first team have no game this weekend, so I’m hoping they can help me with a couple of reinforcements,” said Ashton.
He will be talking to head coach Tony Benson later today to see what can be arranged.
Benson’s men, in fifth spot, have a blank Sunday before facing up to two crucial games in the Championship One promotion battle against sixth-placed Rochdale at Whitebank on Sunday, June 24 and against fourth-placed Whitehaven away on Sunday, July 1.
