Oldham eyes on forward’s return
Date published: 14 June 2012
YOUNG back-row forward Alex Thompson, out for nearly four weeks with a knee injury, will return to action at York tonight in the Oldham RL reserves team to face the City Knights at Huntington Stadium (8pm).
Head coach Tony Benson will hope the 21 year old former Warrington Wolves academy star comes through unscathed, putting himself in contention for a senior call-up against derby rivals Rochdale Hornets on June 24.
Centre David Cookson and second-row man Jamie Acton will also hope to push their first-team claims against a strong York line-up.
Roughyeds will give a debut to new signing Ryan Hilliard, a young amateur scrum-half from the St Helens area.
