Clarke nearing Oldham return

Date published: 04 July 2012

CHRIS Clarke, Oldham RL’s tough-tackling forward, is ready to play again after nine weeks on the injured list.

The 23-year-old prop or second-row man has targeted the next match against London Skolars at Whitebank on Sunday week, July 15, as the one in which he will make his long-awaited comeback.

“He’s itching to get back,” said coach Tony Benson. “He came through training last night with flying colours.”

Clarke damaged a shoulder against North Wales Crusaders at home on May 6 and it took him five weeks to get over it.

He was ready to bounce back in the return game at Wrexham on June 10, but at training on the Thursday before the game he was devastated when he pulled a hamstring on the last play of the night.

He hasn’t played since, having missed six games in a row spread over two months.

Tom Wood-Hulme is back at Whitebank after several months away, which included a short spell with Rochdale Hornets.
