Oldham worry over Onyango
Date published: 05 July 2012
OLDHAM winger Lucas Onyango's injury problems are causing concern.
Coach Tony Benson revealed today Onyango has been in and out of the side due to persistent aches and pains in his ankles, knees, back and hamstrings.
Said the Roughyeds' boss: "For a long time now he has been having treatment or rehab, getting through a game and then starting the medical process all over again.
"We need to get it sorted once and for all so that we can get him back on track."
The 31-year-old Kenyan, in his sixth season with the club, played in the last home game against Rochdale, but did not figure at Whitehaven last Sunday when his right-wing spot went to on-loan capture Rob Foxen.
It isn't known yet whether Onyango will be considered for the next game against London Skolars at Whitebank on Sunday week, nor will Benson know until nearer the time whether dual-registered players Daniel Smith and Colton Roche will be available.
Smith played at Whitehaven, but Roche was recalled by Leeds last weekend when his place in the Roughyeds back division went to David Cookson.
Benson said: “It’s a week-by-week arrangement with dual-registered players. “
