Whitmore blow for Roughyeds
Date published: 12 July 2012
OLDHAM RL Club’s injury jinx has struck again.
Hooker Danny Whitmore has fractured a hand in training and may be out for at least a month.
He was injured in a practice match while trying to pick up a loose ball - just as new on-loan signing Rob Foxen decided to kick it.
With his damaged hand in plaster, Whitmore doesn’t go back to hospital for three weeks.
Prop Luke Stenchion, who has a similar injury, and winger Lucas Onyango, whose legs and hamstrings are causing concern, are the only other casualties as coach Tony Benson ponders his line-up for Sunday’s home game against London Skolars (3pm).
Stenchion is expected back by the end of the month, but it isn’t known for how long Onyango will be out.
Prop Chris Clarke has missed a large part of the league season, but has been cleared to play on Sunday against the Skolars, with whom Roughyeds drew 20-20 last time.
