Fogarty freed by Oldham
Date published: 24 July 2012
MATTHEW Fogarty's request to be released by Oldham RL Club has been granted.
The young centre's future with the Roughyeds had been left hanging for weeks following his faiure to turn up for training.
He then made disparaging remarks about club chairman Chris Hamilton on an Internet chat line.
"I have received a full, written apology," said the Roughyeds' chief.
"On the back of that we have freed him to play for Saddleworth Rangers, which is what he wanted.”
Fogarty (20), who was at Salford City Reds before joining his home-town club two years ago, scored a try for National Conference Premier Division side Saddleworth in their 32-28 defeat at Skirlaugh on Saturday.
Carl Sneyd, the Waterhead centre who looked good on his debut in the Roughyeds' reserve team's superb 30-30 draw with Featherstone last week, has joined Oldham on amateur forms so he can continue to play for the Peach Road outfit.
His deal allows him to play for both clubs.
Said Hamilton: "Carl was keen to see out his commitments with Waterhead.”
