Benson’s rage after away loss
Date published: 06 August 2012
AN angry Tony Benson will be taking his Oldham RL players to task this week after another penalty-strewn defeat at Barrow.
“We had a serious discussion about it in the dressing room immediately after the game,” revealed the Roughyeds boss, whose side has slipped out of the Championship One top six after London’s win against Rochdale.
The first five penalties of the game went to Barrow and at one stage Roughyeds had been penalised 10 times to Barrow's three. It ended up 11-7 as the Raiders capitalised on the extra possession and easy yards to win 42-16.
Benson added: “I am bitterly disappointed, angry even. We killed ourselves with giving away all those penalties, but we’ve talked about it and we are committed to getting it right next Sunday when Doncaster come to Whitebank.”
