Roden to examine defensive frailties
Date published: 14 August 2012
CARETAKER coach Martin Roden's first game in charge of struggling Oldham didn’t provide him with what he was looking for in terms of result or performance.
It’s back to the drawing board for axed boss Tony Benson’s former No 2.
Describing his post-match mood as “one of disappointment”, Roden said: “If you score 22 points at home you should be a lot nearer than we were to getting something out of the game.
“That tells me two things — we were not good enough defensively and we surrendered too much possession.
“We looked a lot better in the second half, but we had left ourselves with too much to do. On Tuesday night we will be examining where we went wrong and what we need to do to put it right for the next game.”
