Hamilton set for more job talks
Date published: 27 August 2012
OLDHAM RL chairman Chris Hamilton will have plenty of choice in appointing a new head coach to succeed Tony Benson.
He has interviewed two candidates already — applications closed on Friday — and more will be seen over the next few days.
Several English coaches, and foreign coaches working here, have applied.
“We’ve had an excellent response. The process will gather momentum this week when I do more interviews,” said the Roughyeds chief.
Applications, he said, numbered “well into the high teens”.
London Skolars’ 41-26 win over Whitehaven on Friday night means Oldham’s quest to finish in the play-off top six will go to the wire.
It will all hinge on two results next Sunday — the last day of the regular league season.
Roughyeds will need to win at Gateshead and rely on championship-chasing Doncaster beating the in-form Skolars.
