Ex-England centre is Oldham’s new coach
OLDHAM RL Club have appointed former Salford City Reds, Bradford Bulls and England centre Scott Naylor as new head coach on a two-year contract.

Naylor (40), who has been coaching Leigh RU Club, will be unveiled by Roughyeds tonight.

Oldham chairman Chris Hamilton: “Scott did a lot of coaching at Salford. He is hungry to get back into rugby league and he has a burning desire to do well. He’s a league man through and through and he has been looking for an opportunity like this for some time.

“He’s driven, committed and determined. Those characteristics epitomised him as a player and I’m confident he will be no different as a head coach.”

Naylor, who succeeds Tony Benson, scored 60 tries in 159 Super League appearances, most of them with Bradford at a period when the Bulls, both on and off the field, were setting new standards as Super League’s leading club.

He played four times for England in the World Cup of 2000 and in three Challenge Cup finals for Bradford.
