New coach Naylor vows to lift club’s fortunes

Date published: 21 September 2012

SCOTT Naylor was last night unveiled as Oldham RL Club’s new coach in a press conference at Whitebank.

After signing a two-year contract, the 40-year-old former England international spoke of his belief that hard work and determination can turn around the club’s fortunes.

Just as he did in his playing career, he saw off the challenge of several rivals following two lengthy meetings with chairman Chris Hamilton.

“I am looking forward to the challenge and no stone will be left unturned,” said Naylor.

“There will be targets set by myself and the team, but for the time being the first thing to say is that last season was simply not good enough, and we must improve on it.”

Work on Roughyeds’ pre-season schedule, new players and the appointment of an assistant coach starts immediately.
