Bears entry put on hold

UNDER new boss Scott Naylor, Oldham RL could play just 16 matches in Championship One next season, two fewer than in the season just ended.
The Rugby Football League’s decision to put new club Coventry Bears’ entry on hold for another year leaves only nine teams in competition.
The Bears were thought to be ready for inclusion in 2013, alongside new teams Hemel Stags, Oxford RL and University of Gloucester All Golds, but the RFL has confirmed that it won’t happen before 2014.
RFL official Ralph Rimmer said: “Bears are ambitious and they have made significant strides in the last few years, but we feel they need another year to prepare.
“We don’t want to rush clubs before they are ready. We must act responsibly and in the best interests of the competition.”
