Oldham coach ‘tough but fair’

OLDHAM RL Club’s Mark Brocklehurst has given the thumbs-up to the appointment of former Bradford Bulls hard man Scott Naylor as head coach.
“He’ll have a no-nonsense approach and call it as it is — that’s how players like it,” said utility back Brocklehurst.
The former Wigan academy, Swinton and Rochdale player said: “I vividly remember Scott Naylor as a rugged centre in the star Bradford Bulls side. The qualities he had as a player will show through in his coaching.
“He was a tough cookie whose game was based on hard work and 100-per-cent determination to be
second best to nobody. He will command a lot of respect in the dressing room because he won’t be asking us to do anything he hasn’t done himself. He’ll be tough, but fair, and that’s all players ask for.
“When they’re dropped, they like to be told why and what they need to do to improve their game. Players like a coach who calls a spade a spade.
“I’m sure our new man will do all of these things and, on the back of that, will take the club forward.”
