Decision soon on second in command
Date published: 05 October 2012
Oldham RL Club new head coach Scott Naylor is closing in on his numbe two and expects to make an announcement soon.
Martin Roden, who finished last season as caretaker boss following the split with Tony Benson, is in the frame — but isn’t the only candidate.
“I hope everything will be sorted in the next few days,” said Naylor. “But that’s all I am saying until the position is filled.”
The Roughyeds' new boss has had to cope with a whirlwind first fortnight in which he has been chasing players, working on the appointment of his assistant, going into meetings with club chairman Chris Hamilton and trying to firm up arrangements for the start of pre-season training.
He added: “There’s a mountain of work to get through. As far as signing players is concerned I’ve given him part of my wish list, but there are more to be added to it yet.”
