Clough exits Roughyeds
Date published: 08 October 2012
OLDHAM RL hooker John Clough has left Whitebank and is believed to have signed for the new Championship One club Oxford - coached by former Roughyeds boss Tony Benson.
The 28 year old former Salford City, Leigh and Blackpool player has had two seasons at Oldham as a senior member of the Oldham side alongside Martin Roden and Danny Whitmore.
Alex Thompson, the Roughyeds’ 22-year-old back-row forward, is also thought to be moving to Oxford.
Roughyeds have now lost five of last season’s players — Clough, Thompson, Miles Greenwood and Whitmore and 34-year-old back-row forward Paul Smith, who has retired. The rest of the squad are out of contract apart from skipper Neil Roden, half way through a two-year deal.
Announcements on replacements are due soon.
