Roughyeds delight as Dallimore stays put

JAMIE Dallimore will don Oldham RL colours again next season after signing a new one-year deal.

The impressive half-back and goal-kicker was courted by several clubs but has chosen to stick with Roughyeds and new coach Scott Naylor.

The Naylor factor — he is excited at working under the former England centre — and the offer of a new contract, were the deciding factors.

Dallimore said: “As long as there was a decent offer on the table I was always going to stay at Oldham. All I wanted from the start was the right deal.

“I’ve been happy at Oldham since the day I first walked into the club to play for the reserves. I like the set-up, I like the fans. I get on well with everyone at the club. I’m at my best as a player when I’m happy, so why would I want to leave?”

Dallimore turned down approaches from Workington Town, Whitehaven and Barrow — three of the four promoted clubs now preparing for their entry into an extended 14-club championship next year.

Others included an established second-tier club and former Oldham coach Tony Benson’s new boys Oxford.

Delighted Oldham chairman Chris Hamilton said: “He was honest and up front with us all the way through and the way he went about things was a credit to him. I told him that when he signed.”
