RUGBY LEAGUE
SCOTT Naylor, Oldham RL’s new coach, plans to visit every amateur club in the town over the next couple of months in a bid to promote closer ties between Roughyeds and the local community game.
Naylor believes passionately that a closer working relationship between Roughyeds and the local amateurs would be of mutual benefit.
He said: "The Oldham area is renowned for producing top-quality young players, and has been for many years.
"We need to tap into that and forge stronger links with the amateur clubs. We could help each other.
"If you are a young bloke who likes playing rugby and somebody is willing to pay you for doing it, how fantastic is that?
"We want to see Oldham lads playing for their hometown club and developing accordingly, and not all the good ones are going to finish up with Super League clubs.”
