Danny Whitmore: half-back impressed in the defeat of Hemel Stags
DANNY Whitmore might stay at Oldham RL Club beyond his initial one-month loan agreement.
It would need the approval of both clubs, but after only one game for Oldham, 23-year-old Whitmore is happy to keep his options open.
He played a key role in Roughyeds’ 30-12 win at Hemel Stags to earn post-match plaudits from coach Scott Naylor.
“I’m here for a month, but when the month’s up we’ll see what happens,” he said
“If I’m happy with my rugby and Batley don’t need me to go back I’d like to carry on doing my best for my home-town club, even on a week-to-week basis.”
Whitmore is sure to feature in the Championship One fixture against Gateshead Thunder at Whitebank on Sunday week, May 26. That game now kicks-off at 1pm instead of 3pm.
Whitmore added: “I knew I would immediately fit in at Oldham again, even though it’s a new team from the one I left behind, I was chuffed to sign for Scott Naylor again. He's a good coach.”
With no first-team game on Sunday, under-20s coach Phil Costin is expected to name a strong side for Friday night’s clash with York City Knights at Whitebank (kick-off 8pm).he defeat of Hemel Stags.
