MO Agoro is having treatment for an ankle injury as Oldham gears up for another big challenge against the Welsh in Neath on Sunday.
The Roughyeds’ right-winger was hurt in the 22-20 defeat by North Wales Crusaders in Wrexham and he faces a fight for fitness in time for this weekend’s clash with South Wales Scorpions at The Gnoll.
Centre David Cookson, who was unavailable last week, is expected to be back in contention, but the line-up won’t be announced until Saturday at the earliest.
Like Oldham, Scorpions have won four of their seven Championship One games, but they have played at home only twice and in their last outing at The Gnoll seven weeks ago they claimed the valued scalp of Rochdale Hornets with a 30-28 victory.
Scott Naylor’s men enjoyed a 24-12 Northern Rail Cup win at The Gnoll in March, but the Welsh team’s line-up this time will bear little resemblance to that one.
Three new signings made their debuts in a 46-18 win at Gloucester All Golds last Sunday. Matthew Wilcox, at centre, and Gerwyn Price, at prop, a former RU forward with Neath and Cross Keys, showed up well off the bench, while Grant Gore (21), a stand-off from Widnes who has joined Scorpions on a month’s loan, starred from the start.
