Oldham wait on winger

ON A WING AND A PRAYER: Mo Agoro is undergoing treatment on an ankle injury.

OLDHAM’S medical staff are working hard on winger Mo Agoro in the hope he will be fit to return against Hemel Stags at Whitebank on Sunday.

The 20-year-old former Leeds Rhinos academy player rolled an ankle in the 22-20 defeat at North Wales Crusaders and had to miss last Sunday’s 36-32 win at South Wales Scorpions.

Dan Brotherton, on dual registration from Salford City Reds, replaced Agoro on the right wing only to suffer a similar injury which forced his withdrawal.

Assistant coach Lee Spencer: “We’ll be looking at the troops at training tonight, seeing how everybody is and monitoring things over the course of the week.

“We’ve got to manage the squad to get the best out of it over the second half of the league campaign.

“Providing Mo is responding to treatment we’ll give him a fitness test on Thursday and see how he goes on Saturday morning.

“To keep the other players ticking over we’ll have a light training session tonight before watching a DVD of the Scorpions game. Hopefully, we’ll try to fix up a few things.”



Centre Jon Ford’s four tries in the 36-32 win have taken him into the list of Championship One top try scorers in which Roughyeds now boast three of the top six. Gary Middlehurst (North Wales) leads with 11, followed by Oldham’s Adam Files and Dalton Grant of South Wales , both on eight. Three players are on seven: Rob Massam (North Wales) and Jon Ford and Richard Lepori of Oldham.
