Oldham pair in the clear

OLDHAM forwards Sam Gee and Nathan Mason have been cleared of any wrongdoing in an ill-tempered game at Oxford.
Nobody was sent off and only one player was sin-binned — Oxford’s Andrew Bentley for a high tackle in the 60th minute.
Referee Tom Crashley dished out 25 penalties and late in the second half gave Oxford a team warning for persistent offences — 16 times to Oldham’s nine.
Hooker Gee, Oldham’s vice-captain, was under scrutiny for an alleged high tackle on Andrew Bentley early in the game, which Roughyeds won 22-4.
Mason, the Roughyeds’ 19-year-old prop, was considered for potentially using his elbow or forearm illegally in two separate incidents.
Oxford’s Bentley wasn’t charged either, the panel accepting his 10 minute penalty was sufficient punishment.
His Oxford team-mate David Ellison suffered a broken jaw in the game, but no action was taken.
