Coach hits out at Roughyeds complacency

POWER PLAY: Oldham’s star man Josh Crowley makes his presence felt.
WHILE saluting the “100-per-cent” effort shown by Gloucester All Golds in securing a comeback draw, Oldham coach Scott Naylor couldn’t say the same about his own players.
Before yesterday’s final home game, Naylor had stated that he “couldn’t stomach complacency”.
But after leading 18-0 at half-time and seemingly on course for a straightforward win against the division’s bottom side, Oldham had to settle for a draw.
Naylor had great praise of Gloucester - beaten 36-0 by Oldham in the second game of the season - but thought the attitude of his own players was wrong from the start.
“Gloucester are a completely different side than the one we played away and he should be proud of the effort his lads gave him. Maybe they deserved to win the game. I just thought they gave their coach 100-per-cent.
“There was complacency from us before it was 18-0. I’ve been on about it all week, worried about it, and unfortunately it has eventually caught us out.”
With Rochdale coming up on Thursday and victory needed to keep up the pressure on title favourites North Wales Crusaders, four points adrift of Oldham and with two matches in hand, Naylor is challenging his charges to recapture their recent form.
