Oldham chief: Koukash meeting positive

OLDHAM RL chairman Chris Hamilton has held talks with prospective new owner Dr Marwan Koukash.
The horse racing magnate and owner of Salford Red Devils boldly announced his intention to take over both Oldham’s professional sporting clubs and provide Athletic and Roughyeds with a new stadium.
And while Dr Koukash’s interest in acquiring his second RL club is still at an early stage, Hamilton got the clear impression he means business.
“It was a meeting both parties wanted,” said Mr Hamilton after talks at Dr Koukash’s home in Haydock.
“We talked about a lot of things regarding the club moving forward. Though we’re at a very early stage, things will progress and we have agreed to move forward with it.
“It was a very constructive meeting, though that doesn’t mean a deal is done. There is a process to follow and we will follow it.”
As reported here last week, the RFL has no outright objection to one man holding a major stake in two clubs.
