Naylor keeps his feet on the ground

SCOTT Naylor is too much of a realist to be carried away by his Oldham side’s win against Swinton Lions at Whitebank.
For periods of the previous game at Barrow they were the better side, even though they lost 16-6.
In their second pre-season run-out against Championship sides, Naylor’s men conquered Swinton 24-18 after hitting back from 18-4 down early in the second half.
It was a remarkable fightback — but the Oldham boss was worried at the early performance that allowed his side to go 14 points behind over the first 50 minutes.
He said: “The last 30 minutes was us — that’s the sort of side we are when playing on full throttle.
“For 50 minutes, though, we didn’t seem to be at the races.
“Whether that was because we took them lightly, I don’t know.
“We had the right attitude at Barrow for 80 minutes and the same attitude against Swinton for only 30 minutes. That will give us plenty to talk about this week.”
Oldham’s third and final warm-up clash is against Leigh Centurions at Whitebank on Saturday afternoon.
