Oldham RL chairman Chris Hamilton has denied the club owes money to the tax man.
An advert in the London Gazette noted a petition to wind up Oldham Rugby League Football Club (1997) Ltd has been brought by HMRC and will be heard at the High Court on March 10.
But Mr Hamilton said: “It is incorrect and I’ve been in touch with the relevant people to sort it out. We don’t owe any money.”
In October 2013, Oldham RL warded off a move by HMRC to have the club wound up by paying a £10,000 tax bill.
