Roughyeds coach hails winger’s ‘special try’

SCOTT Naylor saluted Mo Agoro’s third and decisive try in Oldham’s 38-28 win at London Skolars as “a 60-metre special that effectively won us the game”.
Agoro celebrated his second hat-trick of the season, completing it three minutes before the end with a decisive length-of-the-field break, finished off in typical flamboyant style.
Roughyeds led by four points when Agoro struck to clinch a 38-28 triumph which keeps Naylor’s men in second place in Championship One.
The former Leeds Rhinos winger (21) has now totalled 18 tries for the season to go level with team-mate Dale Bloomfield at the top of Oldham’s try scoring lists.
Naylor also spoke highly of the contributions from Gareth Owen, Brett Robinson and Paddy Mooney.
He said of Owen: “He’s playing better and getting fitter with each game. You saw that in the first quarter of the match when he was outstanding.”
He added: “Brett (Robinson) also did well when he went on as Gareth’s replacement and that’s good because it’s putting pressure on all our hookers to perform.
“Paddy Mooney did well at prop, considering it was his first game in the first team for a long time.”
Ben Wood was moved out of the forwards to play at centre in place of the injured David Cookson, while Nathan Mason returned on the bench after a few weeks out, with Michael Ward starting at prop.
Oldham have only three games remaining in the regular season.
They have no game next Sunday, but then they play Hemel Stags at Whitebank on Sunday, August 17; Gateshead Thunder away on Sunday, August 31; and Gloucester All Golds at home on Sunday, September 7.
