Naylor: act like men
Date published: 05 September 2014
SCOTT Naylor has challenged his players to “grow up and act like men” when things don’t go to plan.
Still smarting from the 40-14 defeat at Gateshead, the Oldham coach has reiterated his promise to make changes for Gloucester’s visit to Whitebank on Sunday (3pm) in the final league game of 2014.
Of the players injured on Tyneside, Phil Joy, Danny Langtree, Sam Gee and Mo Agoro have been given the all clear. A decision on Lewis Palfrey will be left until tomorrow, but George Tyson will miss his second game in a row.
Naylor, who won’t name his line-up until nearer kick-off, is demanding a hugely-improved performance with which to head into the play-offs.
He said: “I’ve got lads who are desperate to get back into the team and I’d be a fool not to use them after what happened at Gateshead.
“We need to increase the intensity of our game and players must stop waiting for colleagues to make the big plays and get on with it themselves.
“We’ve got to stop feeling sorry for ourselves when things go wrong; grow up a little bit; act like men; and get on with it. More bottle is called for too.”
