IMPATIENT PATIENT . . . Oldham skipper Lewis Palfrey.
AS Oldham RL club skipper Lewis Palfrey continues his recovery from surgery, he admits he’s... bored!
Palfrey (24) had a hernia op 10 days ago - and he is aleady bouncing back.
The former Salford Red Devils stand-off, a pivotal member of the Oldham squad throughout 2013 and 2014, is itching to get back on the training pitch.
Palfrey said: “It’s been tough going because I have been sore and I’ve had to take it easy. I’m not used to doing that. This is the first one that has kept me out of action for any length of time, and it’s doing my head in!
“It’s been boring, sitting at home all day. The sooner I can get back into action, the better.
“The target for my return remains the Coventry game on March 1, but once I’m back sprinting 100 per cent, that’s me ready for a game.
It’s a bit early to predict what lies in store in 2015, but the skipper has been impressed with the pre-season sessions he joined in before surgery.
He added: “Scott Naylor and Lee Spencer have really freshened things up this winter. There’s been some excellent new recruits drafted in. We’re determined to go all the way.”
Oldham play the first of three away pre-season fixtures at Swinton on Sunday.
