ON THE RUN: Roughyeds star Adam Clay takes on the Rochdale Hornets defence.
STEVE Roper, Kenny Hughes and Adam Clay are good bets to be back in Oldham’s 17 for tomorrow’s tough test at Barrow (6.30pm kick-off).
It promises to be table-topping Roughyeds’ sternest challenge since they won 23-16 at Rochdale on the opening day of the League One season - and Scott Naylor looks sure to put out his most experienced side.
Roper, Hughes and Clay were rested for last week’s Gloucester game, Clay also given time off to be with his partner when she was giving birth. After three games out, the winger will be smarting to get back into action at Craven Park, where he played regularly for Barrow in 2013.
Clay played in 26 of the Raiders’ 27 games in all competitions that season, finishing as the club’s top try scorer with 12. So far this season he has scored seven in seven for Oldham, including two at Barrow when Scott Naylor’s men recovered from an early 10-0 deficit to win 32-10 in the iPro Sport Cup quarter-final in mid-March. Roughyeds totally dominated the second half to inflict the Raiders’ first defeat of the season.
Since then Oldham have gone from strength to strength and can now boast a record of eight wins in ten outings in all competitions.
