Oldham ownership talks to continue
Date published: 24 July 2015
RUGBY Oldham has expressed an interest in potential involvement in ownership following talks with club chairman Chris Hamilton.
During a meeting between Hamilton, the Oldham Roughyeds Supporters’ Association, supporters’ trust Rugby Oldham and a group of independent fans, Whitebank development, better communication with fans and more vigorous use of social media. The club is to launch a new and upgraded website.
A club statement afterwards reiterated Hamilton’s welcome for any discussion about ownership.
ORSA’s direct support for the club doesn’t run to part-ownership, though some individual members have expressed an interest.
Rugby Oldham is interested in opening dialogue with the club regarding potential involvement in ownership, but if talks advanced the trust board would need the approval of its members. Currently it has a mandate to open talks
Rugby Oldham will look for advice from Supporters’ Direct - its national body; and Hamilton will consider further discussion with the trust’s board.
The next meeting is due on August 10.
