Naylor’s fingers crossed for Dan

DANNY GRIMSHAW . . . the new signing is expected to play a part in training tomorrow night.
DANNY Grimshaw’s prospects of being fit for Oldham’s crack at Leigh Centurions on Sunday (3pm) are in the balance.
The stand-off missed the London Broncos game with a leg injury, but Roughyeds are hopeful the 29-year-old Yorkshireman will be in contention this weekend.
Grimshaw didn’t train last night, but coach Scott Naylor expects him to be ready to join tomorrow’s session.
Naylor said: “Hopefully he’ll be okay by weekend. If he can train Thursday, we’ll see if he gets through the session and take it from there.”
Injured in the Law Cup win at Rochdale, Grimshaw’s attacking flair would have come in useful against the well-organised Broncos defence on Sunday.
Lewis Palfrey (calf) and Jack Spencer, whose forehead was badly gashed in the London game, are fit and ready to take on Leigh.
Coaching staff and players last night re-examined what happened in the 22-0 defeat by Broncos with Naylor finding a lot of positive points.
“We gave 100 per cent against a team of full-time professionals in our first taste of Championship rugby,” he said..
“For 50 minutes there was no difference between the teams, so we’ve now to look at how we can maintain that level of performance for the 80.
“We switched off a couple of times and it cost us points. That’s the difference between the divisions. You can’t afford to switch-off in the Championship because you get punished.
“We need to take the lessons we learned into the Leigh game and make improvements. If we can do that, we’ll be okay.”
