GARY Middlehurst scored a try on his Oldham RL debut, but could not prevent his side from slipping to defeat at Workington Town.
The forward went over in the first half at Derwent Park, and Phil Joy also touched down in the Kingstone Press Championship clash.
However, two tries apiece from Australian dangerman Jarrod Sammut and Jack Murphy sealed the Roughyeds' fate. Carl Forber added three goals and Sammut notched a field goal.
Oldham skipper Lewis Palfrey and Jack Holmes were successful with the boot for Oldham, who have dropped to third bottom in the table after Whitehaven's surprise 26-24 win at Sheffield Eagles on Saturday.
