Danny signs up again

DANNY Grimshaw, senior citizen of the Oldham squad at 30, has signed a new one-year deal to keep him at the club for a second season.

The former Hunslet Hawks half-back (pictured), who is currently being rested because of a long-standing groin problem, has played most of his 19 games for Roughyeds this year in the centre, demonstrating a willingness to move out of his comfort zone for the benefit of his team and his club.

He is unlikely to play against financially-troubled Sheffield Eagles at Bower Fold on Monday (3pm), but he is expected to be back in action before the end of the season next month.

Coach Scott Naylor said he was delighted 'Grimmer' will again be in Oldham colours in 2017.

"He gives us a lot of experience. He's tough too. And he's proved himself a very good addition to the squad," said the Roughyeds boss.

Grimshaw is the sixth member of the current squad to commit to the club for 2017, behind Danny Langtree, Phil Joy, Jack Spencer, Michael Ward and Jamel Chisholm.
