Broad smiles at Newman event

AN EXCITING years five and six Primary School hockey tournament took place at Newman College.

Nine teams entered the event, with Broadfield eventually winning a closely-contested final against Mills Hill. Clarksfield and Higher Failsworth finished joint third.

This was a fantastic celebration of 'Quicksticks' hockey which organisers hope will feed into the local club (Oldham), who train at Newman - on Broadway in Chadderton - every Thursday between 6.30-7.30pm.

IN a separate years seven and eight hockey tournament, hosts Newman won all of their games to seal victory, while Oasis came second.
