THE Saddleworth League’s under-13s cricket title race looks like going right down to the wire.

With two games to go, the championship could well be decided in the last-day clash between Bamford and Shaw.

In the latest round of matches, Shaw made 110 for six (Tom Needham 30) to defeat Droylsden (69).

Meanwhile, Bamford’s Joe Smith-Butler took four wickets for three runs as they restricted Royton to 59 for seven. Bamford made 61 for three, with M Wolstenholme hitting 21.

Glodwick’s best batting display of the season (133 for two) was led by JJ Rigby and Arkam, both retiring on 30. J Taylor smashed a quick 30, including two sixes, for Moorside, but they finished short on 94 for eight.

Four players passed 30 for Saddleworth (Tom Woolley, Richard Hunsley, Sam Mellor and Edward Crowther) as they blasted 163 for six against Heyside, who also had Gareth Bardsley and Jordan Wyatt reaching that mark as they made 100 for five.

Joe Chadwick retired on 30 as Uppermill totalled 110 for four, winning with four overs to spare against Austerlands, for whom Luke Ellis hit 32 in their 105 for seven.

Scores are –

Austerlands 105-7, Uppermill 110-4; Shaw 110-6, Droylsden 69; Saddleworth A 163-6, Heyside 100-5; Royton 59-7, Bamford 61-3; Glodwick 133-2, Moorside 94-8; Hollinwood 11, Saddleworth B 190.
