Boys launch trophy bid

OLDHAM under-15s start their bid for national honours when they take on Ellesmere Port in the second round of the ESFA Inter-Association Trophy at The Lancaster Club tomorrow, kick off 10.30a.m.
The team received a first-round bye in the prestigious national knockout competition and will be hoping for better fortunes after being held to a 4-4 draw by Bury before suffering a 3-1 reverse against Stockport in their opening couple of Greater Manchester Schools’ League games to date.
Meanwhile, Oldham under-14s made a winning start to their Greater Manchester Schools’ League campaign with a convincing 5-0 victory against Trafford.
The local youngsters dominated the game from start to finish but had to wait until the second half to break through.
Two goals from Joe Cooper (Saddleworth) and one each from Matthew Singleton (Crompton House), Kyle Camp (Radclyffe) and Jake Coe (Radclyffe) capped a good display.
