CROMPTON House all but swept the board as they were crowned overall Oldham Schools’ Cross-Country champions once again.
Only Blue Coat, with victory in the girls Year Nine competition, prevented a whitewash on a cold and crisp day at Chadderton Hall Park.
The trio of Emma Peters, Katie Thompson and Danielle Howe pulled off a brilliant one-two-three for Blue Coat to push Crompton House into second place.
Brothers Michael and Rob Smith were individual winners for Crompton House, crossing the line first in the Year 10/11 and Year Seven races respectively.
But success did not end there for the family as Megan Whitworth, cousin of Michael and Rob, landed the Years Five/Six event in the Primary Schools’ Championships.
As expected Adam Howard, of Counthill, ran away with the Year Eight race, while Saddleworth’s Jake Regan won Year Nine.
For the girls, Hulme tasted victory when Jane Augsburger broke the tape first in the Years 10/11, and South Chadderton’s Shannon Howard beat Sarah Whitworth to claim Year Eight honours.
And Lucy Vernon notched a second race win for Blue Coat in Year Seven.
Meanwhile, St Joseph’s ‘A’ won the Primary Schools’ Championships after James Forde (Years Five/Six) and Jakub Dinnan (Years Three/Four) added to Whitworth’s success.
The other junior winner was Olivia Green, of Hulme Escourt.
