Royton extend unbeaten record

ROYTON remain unbeaten in group ‘A’ of the Oldham Cricket Development Group under-11s Indoor League this season after another impressive display.
This time Austerlands were the opposition and could only post a total of 212-8 from their nine overs as Aaron Tesz (2–10) and Adam Gray (2–11) impressed with the ball for Royton.
All but one of Royton’s batsmen then reached double figures, meaning the side past the 300-run mark yet again, William Sandiford-Mitchell top scoring with 21. Kirk Bennett (2-25) and Ross Crawford (1-28) took the the wickets for Austerlands.
The other group ‘A’ encounter saw Shaw record a 44-run victory against Glodwick.
Glodwick batted first and were restricted to 219-4 with the wickets being shared by William Whitehead, Jack Benson, Sean Hurley and Connor Jones.
Whitehead then also impressed with the bat as he top scored for Shaw with an innings of 17. Jamie Symonds, Nathan Connolly and Ben Frost claimed a wicket each but Shaw eased to victory.
Corey Heaton was the star of the group ‘B’ clashes as he steered Heyside to a 49-run victory over Uppermill.
Uppermill chose to bat first and finished their innings on 233-7 as Harry Lord hit 13. Heaton looked sharp with the ball and recorded figures of 3-4, supported well by Corey Pearson who took 2-6.
Heyside then made 282-4 with Heaton adding to his fine all-round performance as he scored 24. Callum Hendrick top-scored with 28 as Jake Manton took all three wickets for Uppermill.
Saddleworth continued their impressive run in the other group ‘B’ game as they beat Woodhouses by 61 runs.
Woodhouses batted first and set Saddleworth 215 to win. Jack Marriott scored 14 runs as Woodhouses five wickets fell to Tom Jowle, James Cafferey, James Howard and Luke Sharples.
Sharples then top scored in the Saddleworth innings as Marriott completed a fine personal performance by taking the only two wickets to fall.
