SADDLEWORTH Rangers under-13s celebrated winning the North-West Counties third division title in style, beating local rivals Waterhead 42-0 at home.
The result meant that Rangers ended up victorious in all 12 of their league matches, a terrific feat.

Man-of-the-match Harry Wallace scored after five minutes and from then on it was one-way traffic, Dominic Elkin (two) and Joseph Harrison scoring to help Rangers to a 22-0 half-time lead.

Lawrie Hughes then crashed over after the restart, Harrison-Brown added two in quick succession to complete his third hat-trick in as many games, and James Fowles completed the scoring. Cameron Matthews added five conversions.

A gritty performance against Hindley saw Saddleworth Rangers under-15s secure a 20-4 home win over Hindley which keeps them at the top of North-West Counties division three.

In poor conditions, Rangers played the more expansive game and got their tries through Dan Mulqueen, Christian Johnson, Chris Yarwood and Tom Robinson, with Nathan Shaw-Langhorn and Richard Joy kicking conversions.

The final score would have been more emphatic but for lapses in concentration in the second half.

Saddleworth Rangers under-14s took to the field at the Stobart Stadium, before the open-age team took on Widnes Vikings in the third round of the Challenge Cup, and came out on top against West Bank Bears 40-16.

West Bank opened up a 6-0 lead before Chris Bolton went over. His try was followed by one from Ryan Maneely, converted by Ben White, who went on to run one in from 70 yards which he also converted for a 16-6 half-time lead.

Danny Richardson, Bolton, White and Lewis Galbraith all enhanced Rangers’ lead, White adding four more goals, before the home team scored a late consolation.

AIDEN Buin scored a hat-trick for Fitton Hill Bulldogs under-nines, who went down by 10 tries to eight at home to Burtonwood.

After a slow start, Fitton Hill’s confidence grew and after Harley Lord had opened the scoring, further tries arrived through Kurt Nevitt (two) and Buin (three).

Jerrold Coughlan and Callum Beadman both tackled their hearts out and there were also scores from Sanchez Francis and Callum Maddox. The most improved player was Connor Yeardley.

ON A bitterly cold morning in Ashton, Saddleworth Rangers under-11s went down 38-12 to Wigan St Jude’s.

But it was a much-improved effort from Rangers, who received a trouncing in the return fixture earlier in the season.

The top tackler award went to Tom Jowle, Kyle Clegg won the coach’s award for his commitment and man-of-the-match was Sam Ogden.

Saddleworth Rangers under-nines dominated their derby clash with Oldham St Anne’s, winning by 11 tries to four.

At six tries to three up at half-time, the pick of the second-period scores was a second effort of the day from Kristian Hilton, who went three-quarters the length of the pitch following an interception.

Other try scorers for Saddleworth were Josh Molloy (two), Matt Fletcher, man-of-the-match Nathan Roebuck (four), James Rice and Matt Tetlow.

After producing another great team effort, Saddleworth Rangers under-eights picked up a victory at Wigan St Jude’s.

Captain Sam Pellowe was man-of-the-match for Rangers, who won by seven tries to four.

The tries arrived through Bradley Jinks, Ben Forster, Elijah Wolstenholme and Adam Howarth.

Four-midable Ward is star for St Anne’s

JARROD Ward scored four tries for Oldham St Anne’s under-15s, as they beat Folly Lane 44-6 at home.

Ewan Reddyoff started the first-half rout, scoring after only three minutes with Martin Swaine converting. Ward then went over four times, Martin Lockwood sandwiching one in between and Martin Swaine adding three more conversions to give Saints a 32-0 half-time advantage.

Folly pulled a score back but further tries from Dale Harris and Josh Ogden, both converted by Kyle Mayall, made the game safe for St Anne’s.

Braving the elements and anything else that Newton Storm threw at them , Oldham St Anne’s under-10s emerged from their away day with a 30-6 win.

Prop forward and boy-of-the-match Anthony Wooley claimed a brace and there were also tries from Haider Khan, Owen Baldwin, Alex France and Regan Croft, with conversions from Wooley, France and Depetrillo.

The under-eights drew six tries each away at Leigh Miners Rangers, with Danny Fish (four), Ben Ivell and Samuel Jewitt on the score sheet.

SHAW Rhinos under-15s, beaten only once in the league this season, came up with a superb 23-0 win away at Rochdale Mayfield.

In an outstanding team performance, tries came from Luke Bentley, Sam Bentley, Sam Wardle, Josh Folley and David Kelly, with James Allott adding a conversion and a drop goal.

Callum White and Folley both went well, as did man-of-the-match Danny Hurley.

HIGGINSHAW under-14s, troubled by injuries, lost 26-0 against a very good Rylands team.

Managing to keep the score down to 10-0 at half-time, a sin binning after the break didn’t help but Patrick Fitzsimmons, Josh Queenan and Liam Marshall were all outstanding on the day.
