OLDHAM ASC celebrate their success in the age group gala.
OLDHAM Amateur Swimming Club collected a 96-medal haul at the Central Lancashire preliminary age group gala at Broughton Pool comprising 30 gold, 36 silver and 30 bronze.
The 9/10 years age group retained their team title and they were joined by the 13-years who also triumphed in their category.
Kyle Clegg collected eight medals in the 9/10 age groups including golds in the 400m freestyle, 200, breaststroke and 200m butterfly. He added silvers in the 200m IM, 200m freestyle, 200m backstroke, 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke.
Team-mate Michael Entwistle collected a bronze in the 400m freestyle.
Kiandra Basnett, also in the 9/10 age group, won silver in the 200m IM and 400m freestyle together with bronzes in the 200m IM and 50m freestyle.
Team-mate Amy Cunningham picked up a silver and Georgia Cain a bronze in the 200m butterfly.
Olivia Askew captured 10 medals in the 11-years age group, including gold in both the 200m and 400m IM, 400m freestyle and 100m butterfly. There were silvers in the 50m and 200m butterfly, 50m and 100m freestyle and bronzes in the 100m backstroke and 200m freestyle.
In the same age group, Caitlin Wareing added a further five medals with a gold in the 200m breaststroke, silvers in the 200m backstroke, 200m freestyle, 50m and 100m breaststroke.
Jessica Fullalove took pride of place in the 12-years collecting five gold medals in the 100m butterfly, 200m freestyle, 200m backstroke, 400m IM and 400m freestyle. She also won a bronze in the 200m IM.
Rhiannon Prestage struck gold in the 13-years 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke together with the 100m freestyle. She also won silver in the 50m freestyle and bronze in the 200m IM.
Hannah Clegg added a gold in the 13-years 200m IM, silver in the 50m and 100m butterfly and 400m IM and 400m freestyle together with a bronze in the 100m freestyle.
Team-mate Chloe Basnett added bronzes in the 100m and 200m breaststroke.
Sam Hill won a gold in the 13-years 200m butterfly, silver in the 400m freestyle and 400m IM while Oliver Coverley picked up bronzes in the 20om and 400m freestyle and Peter Cunningham a third place in the 200m backstroke.
Sophie Kenny’s seven medals in the 14-years age group comprised golds in the 100m and 200m butterfly, 100m freestyle and 400m IM and silvers in the 200m and 400m freestyle and 200m IM.
For the boys in this age group, Harry Entwistle collected silvers in the 100m and 400m freestyle together with bronzes for the 50m and 200m freestyle, 50m breaststroke and 50m backstroke, 100m backstroke and 200m IM.
Ian Martin added a further bronze in the 200m backstroke.
Vicky Burgess had a hat trick of golds in the 50m, 100m and 200m butterfly adding silvers in the 100m freestyle and 200m IM and bronzes in the 50m and 200m freestyle.
Ash Ratchford, for the boys, added a further seven medals with silvers in the 50m freestyle, 50m backstroke, 50m butterfly and 200m freestyle and bronzes in the 100m freestyle and 100m backstroke.
Blake Wilson struck gold four times in the 16-years 50m and 100m breaststroke, 50m butterfly and 200m IM and picked up silvers in the 50m and 100m freestyle.
As a result of their successes, 15 Oldham swimmers have been selected to represent Central Lancashire in the inter-association galas next month.
They are Kiandra Basnett, Amy Cunningham, Olivia Askew, Caitlin Wareing, Jessica Fullalove, Chloe Basnett, Rhiannon Prestage, Hannah and Kyle Clegg, Michael Entwistle, Sammy Ireland, Olivia Coverley, Sam Hill, Martin and Harry Entwistle.
