Matthew is treble top

HAT-TRICK hero Matthew Winterbottom inspired Glodwick under-13s to a first win of the season in the junior section of the Saddleworth and District Cricket League.
The youngster finished with figures of five for two as the Warren Lane outfit sent Austerlands spiralling to 21 all out.
Glodwick lost six wickets before they reached their goal.
Moorside and Saddleworth lead the way with 100-per-cent records.
A seven-wicket win over Shaw, who were bowled out for 76, kept Moorside at the head of affairs.
Farakh Shaghir and Jack Boyle both claimed two for seven as Saddleworth ‘A’ defeated local rivals Uppermill by 10 wickets.
Ahmed Nawaz scored 31 and took three for two for Bamford Fieldhouse, who overcame Royton by 62 runs, while Heyside defeated Hollinwood by six wickets.

A HALF-CENTURY from L Du Feu helped Austerlands to a formidable total of 171 for three against Glodwick in the under-15s division.
Du Feu made 52 and A Cadd offered good support with an unbeaten 39.
M Parkinson struck exactly 50 in reply as Glodwick closed on 121 for four.
Outstanding figures of six for five from Drew Fullalove helped Shaw ‘A’ defeat Moorside by 100 runs.
Thomas Rowlands had earlier made 44 in Shaw’s score of 131 for six.
Bamford Fieldhouse denied hosts Stayley in a low-scoring encounter at Millbrook.
The home side made 49 for eight, while Bamford reached their target for the loss of six wickets with two overs remaining.
Heyside ‘B’ were bowled out for 53 at Uppermill, who could only manage 32 when it was their turn to bat.
M Pegler, of Saddleworth ‘A’, claimed four for 24 in Droylsden’s total of 82 for six. D Evans hit 36.
B Hadfield struck 34 in reply as Saddleworth clinched a five-wicket win.

CHRIS GILL made 42 as Greenfield overcame Denton West by five wickets in the under-17s section of the Lancashire County League.
West were restricted to 82 for six from their 20 overs.
The under-13s suffered a 37-run defeat at the hands of Denton St Lawrence, who were bowled out for 69.
And they fell at the first hurdle in the cup competition.
Parfitt retired on 31 and Heptonstall compiled 21 in a total of 110 for three against Woodbank, who replied with 111 for none.
MICKLEHURST cricket club are looking for junior players, aged eight to 16, for their coaching sessions on Thursday evenings. The club has teams at under-13, under-15 and under 17-level who all play in the Huddersfield Junior League.
Coaching sessions, run by ECB accredited coaches, run from 6:30pm until 8pm, weather permitting.
Schools cricket
OLDHAM under-13s opened their Lancashire Schools’ Merit League season against Bury at Woodhouses Cricket Club today.
It was tough start for the town team, but manager Michael Schofield was hoping for a strong showing from his side.
